Curators of
Regenerative Travel

Ubuntu means “I am because we are.”

Ubuntu Journeys was founded on a simple belief: travel can uplift everyone. We craft immersive luxury experiences in South Africa rooted in connection, resilience, dignity, and shared story — ensuring the people and places who welcome you benefit in return.

Travel that uplifts.

Andrew Patterson

Andrew grew up in Johannesburg and moved to Cape Town in 2006, it became his home for thirteen years.

Cape Town shaped him through its landscapes and, most of all, its people. Over time, he built deep relationships across communities and came to see South Africa not as a destination, but as a living story of resilience and hope.

As someone driven to discover what he's capable of, an inspired idea would change the course of his life. In 2018 Andrew climbed Table Mountain every day for a year. The discipline reshaped his perspective and became the foundation for his book, My Journey Beyond the Summit.

Today, he lives in the United States with his wife, devoted to inviting others to experience South Africa in a way that creates dignity, opportunity, and lasting impact through tourism done right. His perspective is shaped by a year working as a Wilderness Therapy Instructor, supporting children aged 10-17. While the climbs taught Andrew what he is capable of - this year taught him how you support others on their journey to discover their own potential.

It also showed every week what power there is in shared experience and discussing them around a fire.

He does not guide from a script.
He walks with you.

Jessie Patterson

Jessie has explored nearly fifty countries, often solo, or on small group tours, guided by curiosity and a deep appreciation for people and place.

She met Andrew during a month of travel across Africa and discovered a shared belief that travel is not escape, but connection. Of all the destinations she has experienced, South Africa remains a favorite and the one she returns to again and again, drawn by its diversity, natural beauty, and the warmth of its people.

Today, Jessie supports the leadership and operations of Ubuntu Journeys, overseeing the design and execution of each experience. With a background in luxury real estate development, fundraising to build schools internationally, and a lifelong love of travel, she ensures every journey feels seamless, intentional, and deeply human.
